Occupational Certificate : Real Estate Agent (NQF LEVEL 4)

Course Overview

The Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has made it mandatory that all aspirant estate agents must be found competent in the Occupational Certificate: Real Estate Agent NQF4 SAQA ID 118714 in order to operate as Real Estate Agents.

This qualification is a pre-requisite for:

  • Admission to the professional exam for estate agents, conducted by the PPRA, entitling the candidate to be registered as a non-principal estate agent.

  • The Higher Occupational Certificate: Principal Real Estate Agent NQF level 5 in which will allow holders to run and manage their own agencies.

Who Qualifies for the course

  • Aspiring Real Estate Agents: People aiming to enter the real estate sector and obtain their real estate license in South Africa.

  • Current Real Estate Practitioners: Those already employed in the industry who are seeking formal certification to meet legal requirements and improve their professional skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

  • Grade 11 or NQF Level 3 (Competency in the English language and Mathematical Literacy. 

Course Content

This qualification is made up of the following compulsory Knowledge and Practical Skill Modules: 

Part 1: Knowledge Modules 

  • Legislative and regulatory framework, Level 4, Credits: 7 

  • Ethical business principles, NQF Level 5, Credits 8 

  • Developing relationships, NQF Level 4, Credits:7 

  • Brand reputation, NQF Level 4, Credits 3 

  • Property and real estate services, NQF Level 4, Credits 8 

  • Financial business principles, NQF Level 4, Credits:5 

Total number of credits for Knowledge Modules: 38 

Part 2: Practical Skill Modules 

  • Employ macro trends to develop contracts in line with client needs and comply with legislation, NQF Level 4, Credits 7 

  • Apply ethical principles in the interest of all stakeholders, NQF Level 5, Credits 8 

  • Build proficient and sustainable client relationships, NQF Level 4, Credits 6

  • Develop and maintain a personal and professional brand through innovation and continuous improvement, NQF Level 4, Credits 3 

  • Perform property and real estate duties resulting in successful transactions, NQF Level 4, Credits 8

  • Implement sound financial practices to achieve personal and business objectives, NQF Level 4, Credits 5

Total number of credits for Practical Skill Modules: 37

Part 3: Work Experience Modules 

  • Procedures to identify the property and real estate environment and comply with legislative and regulatory framework, NQF Level 4, Credits 13 

  • Processes and procedures for applying the Code of Conduct and adhering to ethical business principles, NQF Level 5, Credits 15 

  • Process to build internal and /or external client relationships and databases, NQF Level 4, Credits 12 

  • Procedures to build a brand reputation and develop a target market, NQF Level 4, Credits 9 

  • Practices to manage the property and real estate function, NQF Level 4, Credits 15 

  • Process to apply financial business principles, NQF Level 4, Credits 11 

Total number of credits for Work Experience Modules: 75

Course Qualification

Upon completion of the Workplace Modules, the learner will write the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA). 

The student will receive an occupational certificate from the QCTO with a minimum of 150 credits OC: Real Estate Agent NQFL4. 

Once the EISA is completed and the qualification awarded, a candidate becomes eligible to write PDE4. Upon passing PDE4, they become non-principal property practitioners

Duration

The program runs for 12 months subdivided into 6 months of learning for Knowledge and Practical Modules followed by 6 months of Workplace Modules at an agency. 

Classes are held at least once a week, with potential adjustments advised by the facilitator.
